The three-part series "Data access for research in the Digital Services Act – new opportunities, new challenges", organized by Katrin Weller, Yannik Peters, and Johannes Gruber, has launched as part of the format "Show & Tell – Social Media Data in Research Practice" (Text+, NFDI). The series addresses researchers and examines which data access pathways the DSA provides, who is eligible for them, how applications are submitted, and which obstacles arise. At the opening session on 7 November 2025, Dr. Jakob Ohme (Weizenbaum Institute) introduced the fundamentals of Article 40 DSA to more than 50 participants: the DSA establishes a binding EU framework for access to data from large platforms and opens up new research opportunities, but sets clear thematic and organizational requirements as well as strict ethical and technical standards. A blog post by Johannes Gruber, Yannik Peters, and Katrin Weller summarizes the session on the Text+ Blog:
